Contamination Control Strategy (CCS)

The revised EU GMP Annex 1 made a documented, holistic Contamination Control Strategy a central expectation for sterile and many non-sterile operations — and one of the areas inspectors probe hardest. A CCS is not a binder of existing SOPs filed together; it is a living description of how your facility controls contamination across the whole operation, and an honest assessment of whether those controls are collectively effective. That synthesis — judging the controls as a system, not a catalogue — is the part sites find hardest and the part that matters most.

We map every credible source of microbial, particulate and pyrogen contamination and the controls that manage it, then assess residual risk using a consistent ICH Q9 methodology. We integrate environmental and process monitoring so it is designed to detect the specific risks identified, with limits justified accordingly — not generic locations and limits disconnected from risk.

The deliverable is a living CCS with defined ownership, review triggers and a remediation roadmap for the gaps it surfaces, connected to your quality system so it informs change control, deviations and management review.
